SOORIYA WEAVING

Story began in 1976 with co-founders, Mr. & Miss Sooriyaarachchi, considering initial part of their surname “Sooriya”, which is the Sinhalese term for “Sun”. Similar to Sun providing the energy to world, “Sooriya Weaving Mill” was established with the intention of revitalizing Sri Lankan traditional handloom industry. It is a family owned/operated company, currently managed by Mrs. Sooriyaarchchi & her son Mr. Chandana Sooriyayachchi.

We always believed in serving the best with 100% virgin cotton for your comfortability. It’s our goal for make all our products unique in nature and exclusive to your individual preference. “Sooriya Weaving mill” is currently performing as largest handloom factory in southern province in Sri Lanka. We have one of the few remaining traditional dye plants in Sri Lanka. We possess an exclusive vibrant range of colours, according to our own colour palette & colouration expertise, which one cannot find anywhere in the world.

All together more than 40 women are working with us, All are from surrounding area, some of them are working more than 40 years and this is their lifetime job . We create more job opportunities to specially elder and disable women , who don’t have fixed income . We support them to lift up their life by Mentoring Professionally and Personally, Increasing savings and income , Build self-esteem and confidence , Boosting decision-making power , as a result of that they working as satisfied employees with us
